Dear Robotham, I think your questions about Wilmot-Breeden Locks are best answered by telling our past and future programme of development on these Locks, which is (between ourselves), as follows:- We have been fitting a series of locks to one car as the design was improved, the latest lock, which is the one I showed to you, is now fitted on the same car and seems to be working perfectly. We now propose to fit these locks on to as many cars as we can about the Works, and perhaps a few cars outside. We shall try and equip about 25 cars in this way and run them for approximately a year. If these prove satisfactory it is our intention to specify this lock for at least one model on 1940 Production. In spite of this apparently rather cautious programme we are very enthusiastic about this lock, the caution being due to our having to sell it to the Body people, and owing to the fact that they have so often been stung by fitting bad locks in the past, it is extremely difficult to get them to take on any new proposition. Yours faithfully, THE ROVER COMPANY LIMITED. MCWilks Technical Department. M.C. Wilks.
