To RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/EM. 600a also 623. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}8/JH.9.9.38. WRAITH EXHAUST SYSTEM. We are still having occasional rear exhaust silencers with a tendency to whistle and are endeavouring at the moment to find the cause. For instance LA.{L. A. Archer} informs us that more of the 24 production cars have this whistle, but we have had 3 silencers on our cars with the complaint, and the production silencer just fitted to 26.G.VI. car for Sales use also "whistles", and we are afraid that although the percentage of "whistlers" on production may be small, it can be a cause for complaint from a customer. We would therefore suggest that production of rear silencer should be such, that you can meet immediate requirements, but do not make a large quantity of stock in case we call for a slight modification.
