346. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Lesl/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 17th December, 1936. Messrs. Thos. Firth & John Brown Ltd., Atlas & Norfolk Works, SHEFFIELD. 1. For the attention of Mr. Porter. Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter of the 11th instant enclosing your drawing No.201 for 7 plate Phantom III rear springs. This looks to be quite satisfactory. We presume the distance of the first clip to the centre of the spring is 2' 7/8", and not 1' 7/8" as shown on the drawing. Will you please, therefore, carry on with the 1350 lbs and 1550 lbs springs. We should like to know how soon we can hope to see the pair of 1350 lbs springs as we shortly have a car leaving for France. I have been trying to arrange for a Bentley to run in France with your special spring clips on the rear; unfortunately, I find there is no provision for a jacking pad. If you have an arrangement whereby a jacking pad can be fitted, I suggest I return the pair of springs to you for the necessary alterations. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
