Mr. McStay, from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.Hancock.

We have received your report on 19-EX car.

It is quite O.K. and the results are very good. With regard to the Bijur lubrication, it follows very closely to the results found in 18-EX. We do not wish you to worry about the water pump, starter motor, clutch trunnion and brake equalising shafts, as further modifications are being made with the lubrication.

The results of the gearbox investigation are very good, but we have since found that the servo shaft has been fitted up without a baffle plate on the inside. This allows the oil to creep along the inside of the shaft and leaks out of the servo drive, when it is bolted on to the shaft. We are sending you a cap to fit into the servo shaft. The drawing enclosed shews its position. This does away with having to fit the guards on the gearbox cover. The vent hole is the most important feature. We have now arranged for this in the change speed lever shaft, and they have tried out a chassis with very good results - all oil leaks cured. Attention is being given to the joints.
