X.3513. BAKELITE INSULATING MATERIALS & BONE GREY FIBRE.

Referring back to your Ey17/H26.8.25, at which time you handed to us two samples of No.2 grade varnished fabric board mentioned in ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/MS1/P24.8.25, and which you stated at the time appeared to be precisely similar in all respects to continental bakelite. The ref. of the letter from The Micanite & Insulators Co. Ltd., Empire Works, Blackhorse Lane, Walthamstow, N.17 is SM/EBB of 19th August last. They quoted therein prices for their No.1 and No.2 grades varnished fabric board.

We duly made tests on these two samples and please find attached copy of my assistant's report WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}42, dealing with tests under the headings :-

(a) Absorption of moisture.
(b) Compressibility.
(c) Leakage conductance.
(d) Machining properties.

We did not issue this report immediately as we had some other samples from Messrs. Spauldings Ltd. upon which we have made similar tests, and attached please find copy of another report WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}56, dealing with the tests on this other material, together with a copy of RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}3/HE27.10.25. dealing with the machining properties of these other material.

Contd.
