We thank you for your note De2/M6.3.31.

We shall submit the 20 HP. car to you as soon as ever possible.

We note that on N.Sch.3251 you shew a brass piston without inserted steel pads for a wearing surface on the intermediate lever. We know that R.{Sir Henry Royce} recommended such a piston, but we believe it was only because he thought that Delco's were using Kelmet whereas actually the pads they use are case hardened steel. We think that using a Phosphor Bronze piston is somewhat extravagant in these days of economy, and see no reason why after steel inserts are used the piston should not be made in cast iron. We therefore propose trying some out in this material.
