Thank you for your report Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/KW.10.10.36, We agree that the longer drivers do not promise to be a success in view of the results you have obtained regarding deflection. We are, therefore, cancelling our instructions to the present scheme, and issuing a modified design. The amount of the deflection on the axle is surprising, and rather leads one to the conclusion that it may not be uniformly distributed between the supports. We should, therefore, like you to make a further experiment in which you have clocked the deflection at various points, so that we can find out if there is a weak spot, and where.
