Considerable damage was done to the spring cups of 35-EX by the Tester who timed the engine. He had evidently turned the engine by barring round the clutch. Several of the cups were bent, and one so badly that the spring had tightened up in it. We have noticed the same tendency on the B. & B. clutches fitted to 25/30 and Bentley chassis. Apparently, the Test Dept. always time their engines by jacking up the rear wheels and turning them with the car in gear. This procedure should be followed in the Experimental Garage.
