From Exp. Dept. To J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} R.{Sir Henry Royce} Re Steering Wobbles X,457 I have measured the inclination of the front axle pivots of the following cars :- Napier. - Vertical in side elevation. Old Daimler. - Inclined backward at top 1 in 20. Peerless. - Vertical in side elevation. Speaking from memory the Daimler was the worst by far for wobbles. The Napier and Peerless are not bad in spite of the fact that the Napier measures a great distance from the centre line of the tyre to the pivot pin. The Daimler pivot is tucked well into the wheel. The Delaunay cannot be measured as the frame is broken and the parts dismantled. | ||
