Dear Mackey,

Hardy has been having some correspondence with you about tyres squealing. In your last letter of August 14th, you asked for some samples.

We have worn out all the Avon tyres we have got, so cannot send you any samples, but if you will send us eight new tyres, which we require in any case, for running our Experimental cars, we will try them out and if there is any difference between one tyre and another, we will return the two worst.

Incidentally, the squealing is so marked that I am sure we could not possibly have missed it, had it been present in the original set of tyres of the new type, which you submitted to us.

I suppose there is no chance of your getting to Derby, in which case, we could demonstrate your tyres against the Dunlop cover, which was submitted as a competitor.

Yours sincerely,
