Mr. Robottom,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robottom,

Thanks for your letter of 10th. October regarding the squealing of tyres. This letter crossed my letter of 9th. October to Hardy, in which I indicated that I should like to come to Derby to discuss this and other problems with you. In that letter I stated that I should be free to make this call any time after 21st. October, but in view of your proposal that we should make a comparative test on a competitive tyre against the worst of the eight tyres you now require for your experimental Cars, I suggest that the visit be deferred until some time during the week commencing 28th. October. With your agreement I would use the intervening interval to make the eight tyres you now require under the direct supervision of a member of my staff because your experience points to some variability in the product.

I have today obtained from the L.M. & S. details of the train service from Bath to Derby. I find that I could reach Derby at 11.36.a.m. and would have to leave at 4 p.m. to get back in the same day. If the tests you have in mind necessitate my being in Derby for a longer period, I could however, stay over-night, but there is a deal to do here and I should prefer to fit the Derby visit into one day.

Yours sincerely,
THE AVON INDIA RUBBER COMPANY LIMITED.

F.{Mr Friese} G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Mackay.
DEVELOPMENT MANAGER AND CHIEF CHEMIST.
