Dear Manning,

Thanks for your letter of January 9th.

The present frame position is that we received alternative quotations from other manufacturers. The one we finally selected had a tool cost of half the figure you submitted to us, and, furthermore, the final price of the frame was considerably cheaper.

The firm in question have dealt with us in the past, and we, therefore, know that the quality of their finish will be satisfactory.

I am sorry that we have been unable to do business with you on this occasion. As you surmise, the body programme is for the time being in abeyance.
