GEARBOX PROBLEM.
Herewith we send N. scheme 3167. shewing the electrical change speed gear [handwritten: and] magnetically coupled clutch proposed by R.{Sir Henry Royce} in his memo.
As regards the electrical system we believe that it is very similar to the Entz transmission. The patent consists in using the electrical transmission for the higher speed ratios and obtaining the lower ratios such as 1st. and reverse by means of gears, thus greatly relieving the duty on the electrical transmission.
