BENTLEY II.A. REAR BRAKES.

The scheme of brakes on 6.B.1V. has been standardised for introduction on production on 101st. car, M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} series: but there are one or two important modifications, notably the brake drums and shoes which are both to be in cast iron.

The D.O. have issued an instruction for a set of brakes (By/CRL.{C. R. Lisson}3/E.9.2.38) which we want building on 3.B.1V. as soon as possible, to demonstrate to Sales as our model car.

There is a new expander unit required with increased travel: this is ordered and will shortly be to hand.

The brake drums are to be standard M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} series, both front and rear.

The brake linings should be B.Z. front, M.R.3. rear.

The shoes should be cast iron to drawing GB.3082/3. It should be noted that alteration number 21905/g.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} should be incorporated.

The rear brakes should have expanders GCD.482, with .750" cone movement. Adjusters GCD.250.

The servo motor should be M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} series and the linings Halo 2.L. (both on car now).

The servo countershaft should have lever G.57128 in place of G.52049.

The cross-shaft should be to RR.Sch.1116 but to save experimental expense the solid shaft you have in the fitting Shop may be used - the spring rating is not materially different from the hollow shaft.

The rear equalizer should be to GCD.134, and can be aluminium bronze. (Production will be making dies shortly) The transverse rods should be as on the latest LOP - one piece 1/4" dia. rods with set up ends. If not available 5/16" dia. rods may be used.
