contd :- -2- when running at all speeds including small throttle openings which does not exist on the present Phantoms. Previously all this noise has been attributed to exhaust noise, and we are still not altogether certain that it may not be an exhaust defect. On the other hand, modifications we have made to the exhaust have not overcome it. Generally, therefore, the position of the 'SS{S. Smith}' is that we have two worries (1) engine mounting, (2) booming. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} are coming to Derby today so that we can go over these points which still require attention. We shall arrange that 21-EX car leaves for France sometime next week in the best condition we can make it. [illegible] Any further modifications can then be discussed at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
