WEEK-END RUN ON 7.B.V.

(1) Ride. At low speeds the suspension is too hard but at high speeds on a bad road such as Ashbourne to Buxton there is a large movement of the rear springs which makes it impossible to decide how the car really handles.
The tyre pressures were found to be between 21-22 all round the car and there were no undue tyre screams on corners, but a tendency to over-steer on a really hard turn.

(2) Gearbox. This is good as regards noise except for the side shaft. The 2nd. gear jumps out of mesh in a few yards and cannot be held in at the end of the lever under full torque. There is a rattle picking up at low speeds on both direct and overdrive.

(3) Steering. This is too heavy when shunting. This car is freer from column shake than any Wraith or Bentley II.

(4) Brakes. These are very good for normal motoring but are fierce when shunting.

(5) Engine. There is the same type of mystery period as on the Wraith between 50 and 55 M.P.H. There are several whistling noises in the engine. One is only there full throttle, another all the time, and the 3rd. one, which is probably from the water pump, only occasionally.

(6) Heater. Does not work.
