re Instrument Boards.

We have considered the modified arrangement described in your memo EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/21.1.33, and we are all in favour of it provided that the steering wheel does not interfere with the view of the speedometer.

Mr Pass had a similar scheme on his Alpine Rolls-Royce and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}, who drove this car part of the time, says that he found the arrangement quite satisfactory. We have also the Bensport here which seems O.K. We shall, therefore, proceed to work along these lines.

In passing and while discussing the speedometer there is a very definite demand for a more legible and more illuminated mileage recorder - the figures on the instruments we use appear to be less clear and more deeply inset than on the Jaeger, and have always been very difficult to read.

With regard to the other instruments, we do not think that any smaller instruments are available, but we are confirming this.

Where smaller dials have been used we think there has been no reduction in the instrument size.

We shall shortly have a scheme ready showing the panel modified to take the small instruments only, together with such controls as are required on the instrument board.
