Re:- Straight-sided Dunlop Cord Tires & Rims.

We have to thank you for your EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}3/T25.4.22.

We should have been interested to have read your experience of any punctures or bursts with this type of tire and rim, but it may be of course that you have not had any on test.

I did not perhaps make it sufficiently clear that all the tires, including those on the 2 spare wheels on 107-MG, were fitted by the Dunlop Company themselves, and as the puncture experienced was the only one we had in France, it follows that the tire and rim with which it occurred had been fitted up by Dunlop's

When in my memo I stated that the rear tires had been changed about half way through the Riviera trip, I should have explained that the two rear wheels became the spare, and the two spare wheels with their new tires were put on the rear axle.

I attach a copy of a memo I have sent to Wa{Mr Wallis} at Paris, and you will no doubt inform me or him direct whether you wish the wheel, tire and rim sent over for examination. I look upon this as essential.

I would add that, far from the rims being choc-o-bloc or with 0.1" clearance at the ends, my impression is that the clearance in most cases was from 1/4" to 3/8". Perhaps this is the cause of the trouble.
