X4050 H2/TB/26.4.22. To BJ. from H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Copies to - Sy. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Re- Straight-sided Dunlop Cord Tires & Rims. With reference to my experience of a puncture of these tires and rims, discussed yesterday at the Conference, you will no doubt this morning have noted EH's memo EF3/T25.4.22. and the statement therein that a similar experience has not taken place on cars under test. There is no mention, I note, of what did happen if any punctures or bursts were experienced on test. I must say that I look upon the matter as being of quite grave importance, and unless examination of the particular wheel, tire and rim afford a satisfactory explanation, I should think our Experimental Department ought definitely to experiment with intentional punctures in some way. I left in Paris careful instructions that the wheel, flange and tire should be set aside, and Mr. Wallis proposed to get Dunlop's French representatives to express their views prior, if necessary, to sending the wheel, etc. to W. for the matter to be gone into closely between W. and the Dunlop Coy. I am writing to Mr. Wallis to ascertain what report he has. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} RECEIVED 27 APR 1922 | ||
