212 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/R.{Sir Henry Royce} May 15th, 1937. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Barclay, Esq., Messrs. Jack Barclay Limited, George Street, Hanover Square, W.1. Dear Barclay, Many thanks for your letter of the 4th May. As you probably know, I have only just returned from America. I would be very grateful if you would contact with Lee Evans next time you get a bad 4 1/4 litre Bentley clutch, and ask him to communicate with me. I am absolutely certain that there is no need for a 4 1/4 litre Bentley clutch to be any worse than a 3 1/2 litre. With regard to idling, the lumpiness can be reduced at the expense of a certain amount of low speed performance. If you are prepared to sacrifice some pick-up, we should like to know about it. Yours sincerely, | ||
