B.Y. FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to P.J. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL "SS{S. Smith}" EXHAUST CUTOUT, & OPERATION. X7230 77490 Herewith we send N. schemes 2699/700. shewing the operating gear for the exhaust cutout. We have only made slight alterations to the gearbox pieces in order to get in the pedal. It will be seen that we ask for a modified front cover, and we have moved the filler back on to the main cover. There is a slight modification to the friction head on the balancing lever suspension link. We are not sure whether the bush in the boss on the cover, which we have used partly to spigot the lever quadrant and partly to provide a bearing, is really necessary, and suggest that the first car should be without this bush, the shaft bearing directly in the aluminium. The operation is on the lines of EAC. 7. With reference to N. scheme 2700. the only modifications to existing things are the alteration to the drilling of the cross, and the modified silencer support bracket. If the cross is in an advanced stage the new drilling for the stiffener can be added to what is already existing, and the modified position of the big lightening hole can be omitted, but future cars should be like this. The actual cutout is as existing, but particulars of the exhaust system will follow in a few days. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
