-2- Nature of Complaint. | No. of Cars. | Last Qtr's. Total. | Remarks. Pre-IndiaIndia. | IndiaIndia Series. | Exhaust Pipe Bracket Failures. | W. 1. N. - P. - | W. 19. N. 8. P. - / 28. | 52. | Design unaltered. This is not satisfactory. Engine Gears Noisy and Rattle. | W. 1. N. - P. - | W. 17. N. 1. P. 5. / 24. | 15. | Our chief trouble at present is caused by rattling in the gears. To overcome this all slack is taken out of dynamo drive serrations and bearings. See that the springs give the correct damping to the pressur plate. There must be a minimum amount of slack in the timing gears and engine bearings, especially the front bearing. Hydraulic Shock Absorbers. | W. - N. - P. - | W. 12. N. 14. P. - / 26. | Not recorded. | A rattle is heard which is caused by the movement of the connecting links to the piston. At present the Experimental Dept. are investigating this. In the meantime we are changing the shock absorbers for ones with specially fitted links with reduced clearances. Rear Axle Thrust Failures. | W. - N. 2. P. - | W. 4. N. 7. P. - / 13. | 51. | The old design is improved and the modification is applicable to older cars. Up-to-date we have no record of a failure where all the latest modifications have been introduced. This is being carefully watched. | ||
