Notes of Meeting.

Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}4/E16.2.35 - 3 -

Re Vacuum Controlled Ignition enabling one to use higher compression without the disadvantage of detonation - the test of a bought out unit to achieve this had not produced satisfactory results.

Re Air-Cooled Dynamos - the details have been issued to the Shops and Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} will try to get it on 5-B-IV.

Re Supercharging the Bentley. The Experimental Dept. hope to be able to demonstrate a Bentley with the Graham Paige supercharger early in March. Some gears are having to be obtained from America for this purpose as other gears will not apparently stand up.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has in hand the design of a Graham type supercharger for the Bentley, it being realised now that, in view of the length of time we shall have to live with the present Bentley, we may have to supercharge it.

Brake Complaints. The design for front axle control is being detailed and, as mentioned in former Minutes will have to be experimented with before being submitted to 15,000 miles test.

Water excluders have been developed and fitted to Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}'s car. Sets will also be available soon for Lp{Mr Lappin}'s car and for London Trials cars, which can be sent to Derby for them to be fitted as soon asready.

It was decided to await the result of trial of these few sets before standardisation though it is not considered necessary to await the result of a 15,000 miles test.

Re other judders - the Experimental Dept. have supplied E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} with some information indicating that by reducing the rear arc of embrace to that of the 20/25 the chance of judders would be reduced by about 75%.

Improved servo - this is being standardised on the Bentley in connection with brakes fading.

On the question of brakes fading, reference was made to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Ory.A6/KW.5.2.35 and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}6/E11.2.35. E; agreed that the condition of affairs set out in this memo. should not
