X4228 c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}6/HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}9.23. re. Carburetter Controls - 20-HP Chassis. With reference to the recent complaint from R.{Sir Henry Royce} re carburetter control to the effect that the cone was too rapid, i.e. 1 in 5, which was our standard at that time - in his memo R7/M16.7.23, last paragraph R.{Sir Henry Royce} writes as follows:- 'This matter should be investigated and reported upon to me, and the necessary alterations made on all chassis'. On my last visit I reported to R.{Sir Henry Royce} what had actually been done, i.e. that the 1 in 5 taper had been changed to 1 in 20 on production, but that no retrospective action had taken place. There are 334 cars in service with the 1 in 5 taper and we shall be glad to know whether it is proposed to take any retrospective action, and if so what action. EP.{G.
