of the oil hole in the Crankshaft webe being reduced in size as previously this Extension Piece partly covered the oil hole, so that since the diameter has been reduced it is considered necessary to give a clear passage.
This alteration is a similar one to that quoted on Page 3 for the Crankshaft Extension Piece at the front end, and was agreed.

7. Magneto Clamping Bar. E.16119.

The Production Dept. requested that the dimension 3.950 should be altered to 3.700 to suit the width of the Magneto, as the leather packings intended to be used are now to be deleted, as they have been found unsatisfactory.
This alteration was agreed.

8. Special Bolt for Engine Bearer Arm. R.1730.

The Production Dept. asked that a new bolt should be instructed to suit modifications made to the Engine Foot. The bolt holes in the Top Half Crankcase will also require modifying to suit, as indicated on Blueprint.
This alteration is consequent upon the decision to use easy fitting bolts in the two upper holes of the engine foot, to avoid the bursting of the boss experienced. This was agreed.

9. Engine Bearer Arm. R.15031.

The Experimental Dept. request that this shall be altered as shown on the blueprint, in order to overcome the present trouble due to these bearer arms breaking round the bolt holes.
This alteration consisting of the addition of metal round the upper two bolt bosses, is owing to the failure from bursting. It was felt that although these bolts are no longer tight fitting there is still insufficient metal on the boss. This was agreed.

10. H.2434/R/5/40.

New parts are required to provide a Drain from the Power Starter Gear Case to the Crankcase. This will mean modification to the Power Starter Gear Case, and the other parts are shown on H.2539.
This modification was agreed to be applied to existing castings, but the Design Office will prepare a modification for new castings in which a boss will be arranged which can be drilled for draining purposes.

11. Annulus Bolt. E.15587.

This bolt has been instructed for bolting the annulus to the Crankshaft flange for both the .555 and .666 Epicyclic Gears, but as the flange of the Annulus of the .666 Gear is .030 thicker than the .555, a bolt is required.
This was agreed to.
