H.Armitage Esq.,
Messrs Borg & Beck Ltd.,
Tachbrook Road,
LEAMINGTON SPA.

Dear Mr.Armitage,

During our conversation yesterday the discussion was confined as far as possible to prices. I know, however, the view that our Administration take, as we have fitted a lot of Borg and Beck centre plates to our Phantom III. cars, all of which have had to be removed. Changing these plates is an expensive job.

We now propose to purchase another lot of clutch plates from you in the hope of getting the cars right. It was necessary for one of our Company's people to visit America to get the required information whereby a clutch plate giving a smooth take-up could be manufactured in this country. We have paid Longs in America a consideration for the work which they have done for us there, we have also paid for the tools to produce a Thermoid lining of the right size.

Under the circumstances, I am convinced that our Administration will take the view that, as we have already sustained a heavy loss on clutches, none of which we have asked the Borg & Beck Co. to share, you should not expect to make any appreciable profit on the 100 sets which are now being made in an endeavour to put the job right. I did not mention this yesterday, but I feel that you should put it before your Directors when the matter is raised.

Yours sincerely,
