HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X4086 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}1/LGS1.3.22. 5-GOSHAWK-11 We have received your report dated 27th.inst. which we have circulated as requested. In view of the telegram which I have received from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} which reads as follows:- "Send immediately by post spare Jet Restrictors also set of leather covers for ball joints suggest haldenby brings next test car here - our carburation excellent - no improvement with B.U. - writing - Hives". and to which we have replied as follows :- "Sending today pair of Jet Restrictors same as now fitted your car stop - Have not yet any satisfactory leather covers for joints - now trying samples - will send set of best we can obtain - next test car we hope leaves for France middle next week with driver - will instruct hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} to take Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence". We are expecting 6-Goshawk-11 back from the Coach builders today and we are now preparing Bullamore to go with this car - we are hoping this car will leave England Wednesday next week. We have to fix correct brake drums and brakes also lower steering wheel and a few other slight additions to alterations. On testing this chassis, however, we found that we lost 2 gallons of water although the water did not boil and we intend to overcome this trouble before despatching the car complete. On investigating the other Goshawk cars here, we found that the level of the water built up in the radiator tank only, had evidently run out of the over-flow. At this point we are now investigating and we have already sent you a report giving particulars of the water system and it may be necessary to alter the size of the outlet and supply pipe from the radiator to the pump. I am anxious that we should fix something on this car which could be tested out to advantage. We will advise you more definitely later when this car is leaving England. We should like to hear from you what you propose to <strike>do with the above instructions - whether you still wish Bullamore to bring the car to you at Laval, Mayenne, or whether</strike> you will meet him at Boulogne prior to going to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence? We will arrange for Bullamore to obtain necessary invoices and also the £40 in French money prior to leaving England. As before mentioned we also propose sending with him the steering levers requested by you, unless we hear from you otherwise in the meantime. We are also sending you a pair of cross steering levers.
