Austrian regulations regarding car brakes and the necessity of fitting sprags.

Re Austrian Customs and Regulations Mr Johnson 8-11-12 TBB3/L81112. With reference to the attached matter, I have been through the various regulations and draw your attention to the following points:- Re Chapter 1. Article 5. Mr Mackintosh draws attention to the fact that most German and Austrian cars are fitted with sprags, but the regulation does not state that this is necessary, the wording being to the effect that each car must be fitted with a brake which will work when the car is moving backward, or with some form of sprag. Our brakes are efficient when the car is running backward and therefore sprags should be unnecessary. (contd) [Handwritten note on left margin]: X677 | ||
