THE AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION AND MOTOR UNION has been authorised to issue International Driving Licences and Car Permits, whereby the inconvenience attendant upon obtaining separate Licences and numbers for each country is avoided. The Pass is at present available in the following countries:—France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Austria-Hungary, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Russia, and Bulgaria. These Passes can be issued to any applicant who is the owner of a motor car or motor cycle registered in the United Kingdom. THE DRIVER OR DRIVERS AND THE CAR OR CYCLE MUST BE EXAMINED AND CERTIFIED BY ONE OF THE ASSOCIATION'S OFFICIAL EXAMINERS. The charge for the Pass is Seven Shillings, in addition to Seven Shillings for examination of car, and Seven Shillings for each driver certified. These fees are halved for motor cycle permits. In accordance with the requirements of the International Convention, an oval plate, bearing the letters G.B., must be carried at the rear of the car or cycle. A small metal plate must also be attached to the dashboard (or in the case of a motor cycle to the steering-pillar), bearing the following particulars: Make of car, horse-power, weight in kilograms, and number of chassis (or cycle). These are supplied by the Touring Department at the following rates: G.B. plates 1s., car dashboard plate 1s., motor cycle clip, 2s. IMPORTANT NOTE.—Two unmounted photographs of each applicant for driving permit are required, measuring about 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches.
