Dear Sirs, Further to our correspondence on the subject of motors and rheostats in connection with Car Heaters. We understand from Mr. D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} A.{Mr Adams} Drew of Joseph Lucas that your Mr. Davis has already collected several of these rheostats direct during the last few days. If this is so, do you still require additional ones, or will these meet the case? As regards the motor having a spindle 2 1/4" longer, we feel on reflection that a long slender spindle such as this would be very likely to cause trouble owing to the overhanging load of the fan, and there is little doubt that the bearings would suffer somewhat in consequence, but also it might be difficult to avoid fan vibration. We would suggest that it may be more satisfactory to consider some form of flexible coupling between the existing fan spindle and the extended spindle, with the idea of putting an additional self-aligning bearing beyond the fan; that is, at the extreme end of the fan spindle.
