Mr. Basil Johnson,
Rolls Royce Ltd.,
London, England.
(Attention Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} F.{Mr Friese} Clarke)
( " Mr. Nadin)

Dear Mr. Johnson:

RE GENERATOR
AUTO-CHARGE SWITCH

We have read with very great interest a series of experimental reports from E.F.C. dated Oct. 25th to Dec. 12th, 1927, on the development of the Auto-charge switch.

From these it appears that probably the English chassis will shortly be fitted with this device as standard, and in view of its great advantages over any present system we are anxious not to be behind-hand in adopting it.

We attach herewith our latest wiring diagram, A-11388, and a print of our latest generator output curve. (The high and low figures on the latter refer to the setting of the adjustable third brush.)

May we ask that Mr. Clark should make and send us an auto-charge switch suitable for our 6 volt system, which we can try on our experimental car at Springfield.

Mr. Nadin will be glad to supply any information regarding the system, not given on the enclosures, and presumably Mr. Clark will give Mr. Nadin his recommendations for various coil-windings on the switch to meet such variations in conditions as we may encounter during test.

Very truly yours,

Maurice Olley
