Dear Mr. Robotham,

Many thanks for your letter.

The petrol consumption claimed for the 12 h.p. is 28 m.p.g. I think the difference between this and the figure you get is mostly a matter of driving. I have myself managed to drive a 12 h.p. over short distances to give a petrol consumption of 18 m.p.g; on the other hand, I know owners who claim to get over 30 m.p.g., these of course are only potterers.

We find that big engines with low axle ratios give very nearly equal petrol consumptions to the smaller jobs because their throttle opening is naturally so much less.

I find the carburetter needle was not changed, but the setting merely adjusted.

Yours faithfully,

G.F.Searle.
Service Manager.
