| Mr. G.W.Hancock, Hotel de France, Chateauroux(French test region), Indre, FRANCE. From Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Les. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Les.6/MJ.3.2.33. 19-EX. SPARE WHEEL BRACKET SUPPORTS. With reference to the failure of two bolts which occurred in the rear near side triangular support bracket in the frame. E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has asked if the bolts break only on the side where the spare wheel is carried. We presume this is so, but should like you confirmation. E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has also asked for the broken bolts. Perhaps you will send them if they are not lost. Referring to Robert's remarks about the tyre hitting the shock damper on full lock. According to the drawing there is ample clearance. The lock on 19-EX. may be too good. Will you please say if you consider that this fault requires attention or is it merely that the dampers on 19-EX. are packed further from the frame than is intended. The Woodhead road springs on Peregrine(Experimental Bentley car never produced / Aero Engine) 3 are drilled and grooved in the same way as the Firths springs.
