x41/Y/2. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY8/G.24.5.29. R.R.A.I. ALTERATION REPORT. Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}25/E17.5.29. and OY3. of May 7th. dealing with a proposed modification to the starting handle as outlined on drawing A.14072, we feel fairly certain that Mr. Royce would not agree to the substitution of our present correctly designed starting handle by the American proposal. It is true that the starting handle is seldom required, generally speaking it is more used for checking timing than anything else, but if it should be required it would be required very badly, and if it had to be used under such circumstances there is no question at all that the American scheme would be very undesirable as it has no loose grip and any effort to start the engine with such a handle would cause the owner very great annoyance. We do not agree with the proposal in question. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
