PISTONS AND CONNECTING RODS.

Handwritten: 18030 / 18040

In reply to your memo. BY/C7/H15724., we should be glad if you would go ahead in Derby with the connecting rods .5" longer, and with the modifications to exhaust pipes, and induction pipe. These latter consist in slight modifications to the angles of the flanged connections to the exhaust down-takes, and of returning to the original dimensions of the induction pipe uptake.

With regard to the pistons we are about to send a modified and simpler form of piston pin.

With regard to the controls we are looking into this matter in connection with the Scintilla magneto, and will deal with the throttle governor modifications at the same time. We have sent to Derby for a sample of the Scintilla magneto because some modification is required to obtain sufficient clearance between the H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} T. conductors and the steering column when this type of magneto is used.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
