Re:- Petrol Supplies [Signature: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}] With reference to Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}5/RS{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}/3.10.39. if a return journey to Belper is done once a day for 31 days a month, the total distance is approximately 370 miles. Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} has a standard ration of 7 gallons per month, plus a supplementary of 18 gallons per month, making a total of 25 gallons per month. Working on the above mileage that would give him petrol consumption of 14 m.p.g. His car must be either 12 or 14 h.p. as his standard ration is 7 gallons, and he should, therefore, have petrol in hand, so we do not feel justified in making an extra allowance.
