C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} P. 2. SYNCHRO MESH GEARBOX.

Herewith we send N.sch.3389. - Clutch Pitt and Servo Damper in connection with the above gearbox.

It will be noticed that we have modified the top cover as compared with the original scheme. We are using the present standard cover exactly. Would you please confirm that there is no need to reach the nuts of the fabric coupling through this cover.

We have investigated the wuestion of putting the damper in the same position as on the 25 HP., but it does not come in conveniently, and we prefer it as shewn here.

We do not think it should be necessary to lock the knurled nut closing the end of the damper cylinder.

With this drawing it is not our intention to send you any information regarding the P.2. synchro mesh gearbox, clutch pit, etc. We believe you have enough to enable you to set out those parts we have not dealt with, such as the automatic lubrication of the clutch spigot, lubrication of the thrust bearing, etc, etc.

There is one design point which may require attention, and that is the backing light switch, but on that point we are awaiting an answer from you.
