With reference to Mr Royce's note of March 5th concerning the reduction of the weight of our standard axle, he suggests that we should abandon the aluminium liners and the intermediate bearing if these can be definitely proved to be of no value with the coarse pitch gears. Do you propose to carry out some tests for this purpose, or shall I instruct the Experimental Dept.? I think this point is urgent.
