608 To Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} & Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Bm/Cis. (crossed out) c. to Hw/GR.{George Ratcliffe} c. to De/WCS c. to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} BY.27/N.4.11.38. Wraith III - Carburetter. Regarding the outstanding items awaiting decision, before ordering a further batch of Stromberg carburetters for Wraith III referred to in Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}20/G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 26.10.38, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and myself examined the carburetter in question, number 4276R, which had been in use on a car for thirteen months, doing almost 10,000 miles running, and found the enamel in good condition. This carburetter had only one coat of stoved enamel applied after the casting is cleaned up, and our future carburetters should have this finish. This means that future Wraith III carburetters will be the same as previously used, except that the petrol catch tray below the accelerator pump is deleted, the throttle lever retaining nut at the operating end of the throttle spindle is replaced by riveting the end of the spindle over the lever, the enamelling of the body is reduced to one coat, and the machining of the spigot for the air pipe may not be necessary when the stiffening collar diameter is increased. BY/CS. and Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} are being instructed to order the carburetters for 'C' series and the remaining batch for 'B' series as specified above. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
