Copy of letter received from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lov.{Mr Lovesey} at Hotel Commodore, New York, dated 12.1.33.

Arrived here Tuesday (10th) afternoon - i.e. two days late due to rough weather.

Have spent a short time at the Motor Show which is here considered one of the best they have had. The cars this year contain some very novel and interesting features and there is a big movement to make nearly everything automatic. Automatic clutches, automatic starters operated by just depressing the accelerator, power operated brakes, synchro and freewheel boxes are very much in evidence. I have not had a chance to go into detail with all these schemes, but will do so later.

The "Fisher" No-Draft ventilating scheme is standard on all General Motors cars, and I had a demonstration of one in an artificial draught of 50 M.P.H. Both front and rear seats were quite free from draughts in the normal ventilating position, but could be adjusted to give a good cooling breeze if desired for hot weather. Enclosed cuttings explain the system. The windscreens used with this scheme are well rounded off at the sides. The diagram shewn explains a little more fully. The front vertical panel pivots vertically, and when slightly open deflects the wind from the open rear portion of the window but allows air to flow in along the face of the windscreen.

FRONT PANEL PIVOTS HERE & SHUTS DOWN ON RUBBER CHANNELS. COMPLETELY WATER TIGHT WHEN BOTH PANELS ARE SHUT.
REAR PANEL OPERATES UP & DOWN LIKE CONVENTIONAL WINDOW. FOR VENTILATION USUALLY RIGHT DOWN WITH FRONT PANEL DEFLECTED AS SHOWN.
