X.3456. RE LOUVRES FOR FUTURE RADIATORS.

We have concluded that the best and only standard permanent position for these is between the radiator and the fan, and we are preparing a design as follows:-

By shortening the matrix and bringing it as near flush as possible with the front of the radiator, we are arranging that there shall be about 1 1/4" between the fan and the back of the radiator. We are assuming that the shortening of the matrix will not seriously influence the efficiency of the radiator as it reduces the resistance to the flow of air, and only cuts off that part of the radiator in which the air is already raised in temperature.

However, it is the only solution for a car with the existing bonnet, short of making a very unsightly arrangement of fitting the louvres in front of the radiator. We will have a model made each way for Mr. Hives to test for the relative efficiency, and for Sales to say what they think of the relative appearance.
