One of the chief directions in which Overload Gauges have been much appreciated, is in connection with Motor Engines, either for the fuel feed, the water circulation, or the oil service. Many thousands are in use and daily saving their owners from the many troubles associated with the usual motor gauges.

The manner in which Overload Gauges stand up to their work, thereby assuring immunity from all gauge worries, and the consequent elimination of the ceaseless "replacements" of the old pattern gauges, explains how it comes about that it is far cheaper to pay two or three times the price of the so-called "cheap" gauges, and have an Overload Gauge which may be relied upon to last as long as the engine.

To suit various requirements we have three standard styles of cases. Figs. 4100 and 4300 are stout cast brass cases, very strong, the latter giving a flush-front effect. Fig. 4200 is a light yet strong stamped-up brass case with the flange round the dial, which for all these patterns is 2 1/4-in. in diameter. A variety of other styles of cases are made to meet special requirements.

These 2 1/4-in. Overload Gauges can be made either with the scale extending over a good arc as per Figs. 4 and 5, or with a central hand and scale coming well beyond the semi-circle, as shown in Figs. 8 and 9, these latter patterns give an exceptionally open and clear scale.

The eccentric hand series comprises the following:
No. 3. 3-times overload. Guaranteed to stand 3 times the greatest pressure shown on the dial, scale as Fig. 4100. For low-pressure fuel feed, or water circulation.
No. 4. 12-times overload. Guaranteed to stand 12 times the greatest pressure shown on the dial, scale as Fig. 4. For forced lubrication or high-pressure fuel feed.
No. 5. 12-15-times overload. Guaranteed to stand up to 15 times the greatest pressure of normal scale, with extension showing the actual overload reached, stouter movement than in pattern 4. For forced lubrication or high-pressure feed.

Dial No. 4, 5, 8, 9

The central hand series comprises the following:
No. 7. 4-times overload. Guaranteed to stand 4 times the greatest pressure shown on the dial, scale as Fig. 8. For low-pressure fuel feed or water circulation.
No. 8. 10-times overload. Guaranteed to stand 10 times the greatest pressure shown on the dial, scale as Fig. 8. For forced lubrication or high-pressure fuel feed.
No. 9. 10-times overload. Guaranteed to stand 10 times the greatest pressure of normal scale, with extension to show actual overload attained. The movement is stouter than that of No. 8. For forced lubrication or high-pressure fuel feed.

The following prices include the coupling nut and tail-piece shown in illustrations. The nipples are tapped 1/8-in. gas thread. If coupling is not required deduct 10d. from price.

Dial No. ... 3 4 5 7 8 9
Case No. 4100... 13/8 16/- 17/3 15/3 16/5 17/8
Case No. 4200... 14/10 17/3 18/5 16/5 17/8 18/10
Case No. 4300... 14/11 17/3 18/6 16/6 17/8 18/11

By combining the Case No. and the Dial No., the precise gauge required will be indicated.

These Overload Gauges can also be made in larger sizes, prices and particulars will be given with pleasure by:
