In reply to HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG211227., the following is a brief general specification of the chassis:

EAC.10. is a development of EAC. 7. chassis with the frame 1" lower, that is to say, 2" lower than existing Phantom.

(1) The rear axle control is by the rear springs and a lightened axle on the lines of EAC. 7., but still further lightened and simplified.

If the experiment on the hypoid gears is successful it is intended to use hypoid gears on EAC.10.

(2) There is an improved and lightened clutch, and much improved clutch brake.

(3) A four speed gearbox as a unit with the engine, much lighter, simpler, and cheaper than now, including a simplified and lightened servo drive and brake gear following the lines of the 20HP.

(4) The frame is stiffened torsionally by an 'X' shaped cross member which displaces two tubular members with their fittings. This involves some changes in a few details like the front anchorage of rear springs, brake linkage, etc.

(5) There is a new method of mounting the steering column called for similar to EAC. 7., but not attached to the engine.

(6) The petrol tank and rear part of the car is re-arranged to increase the ground clearance, so that in spite of the lower frame the actual clearance is greater than on the present Phantom.

(7) On account of the new engine suspension we expect that it will be possible to bring the radiator lower into the frame, involving a modified suspension, and giving considerably greater cooling area and improved appearance. This also involves some change in the axle control damper body.

As regards the differences from the present Phantom, EAC.10. may be said to differ in all the above points, but we retain the existing front axle, front axle control, front springing, cast dash, improved bonnet, side lever mechanism, and improved and lightened rear brake gear on axle, which are now being incorporated on the Alpine Sports model.
