We have replaced the spring by a new one and have instructed Paris to send both rear springs back to you. It looks very much as if the centre leaves go first which then increases the load on the top leaf too to carry, which causes its failure. We have dismantled the bottom half of crank case and replaced a gudgeon pin in No 5 cylinder which I reported had come out. We found that the cause was as I stated, the locking pin thread being stripped due to the gudgeon pin holes being out of line with the hole in piston and in forcing the pin in the threads had been stripped. The new battery bracket sent over could not have been brought fully home into its joint fouled the subframe cross member | ||
