1328. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.4/JH. 5th May, 1938. Messrs. S. Smith & Sons Ltd., Cricklewood Works, LONDON.N.W.2. For the attention of Mr. Grosé. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letters of April 25th, April 27th and the 3rd. inst. With regard to the thermostats mentioned therein, we note that you are sending us two units with increased number of convolutions to ensure the valve moving to the full open position in case of failure. We think that it would be most satisfactory if you noted the free length before sealing off the bellows and then we will test both units and see whether after running the punctured length is satisfactory - in this way we can get two tests without scrapping one unit first. The small heater of which you sent us a drawing, appears attractive and we are weighing up whether we could accommodate it in our body. When a sample heater of this type is available we would very much like to have one sent here for test. In the meantime we would like you to send us on loan the Hadees heater which we returned to you for the purpose of making some tests connected with demisting. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
