For Mr.Leslie's attention.

Dear Mr.Leslie,

Many thanks for your letter of the 29th instant.

It is interesting to note that the squeak only occurs on the rebound side and we are making a pair of valves with slightly more taper, which we will send off to you when they are ready. We would be glad to know if these overcome the squeak: it sometimes does.

The result is that the valve will not be quite so flat, and will have a slightly different action. As a matter of fact, the action should be better as it is not so inclined to "blow off" its seat.

Regarding the larger shafts asked for in the shock absorbers, we find that it might be possible to get the 1¼" whilst we can definitely get the 1⅛". Both of these, however, need very careful handling on clearances, which should not be any great difficulty in production.

As soon as the drawings are finished we will send them over to you for your inspection.

Yours sincerely,
Gordon Armstrong
