| - 4 - WRAITH. Cont'd. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} BY.1/G.21.4.39. ENGINE DEVELOPMENT. I think this item is out of place, and is dealt with under the heading of "DEVELOPMENT". GEARBOX. As the increased reliability of the box has been proved by bench tests, this item, we think, can be omitted in future. WHEEL DRIVERS. This matter can in future be omitted from the Agenda. No change will be made until such time as the semi-floating axle is adopted. On Wraith and Bentley, a very material improvement has been achieved by the use of the hardened dogs. A life of 20,000 miles was proved to be possible by our French test, and at that mileage attention to the dogs should be charged as a Service item. STEERING. BREAKAGE OF FOLLOWER ROLLER. No follower rollers on the Wraith have been broken in customers hands, but we have broken rollers in imposing a test which we developed to check the strength of the part. All the rollers on the Wraith cars delivered to customers will be examined and sufficient rollers will be available at the end of this week to enable us to deal with the cars in question. I have drafted a note to be sent to the customer, which I think will not create any idea of weakness or danger in the part. | ||
