Laminated Road Springs - Thos Firth & Sons Ltd.

On the 29th ult. we wrote this firm that we had then carried our tests of their springs sufficiently far to justify inviting them to visit us to discuss certain details of manufacture and should be pleased to learn whether Mr.J.Wortley Fawcett, Mr.Mark Firth and Mr.Stanfield (Spring Designer) could make it convenient to come here on Tuesday, 5th inst., by which time we hoped to have an expression of opinion from R. {Sir Henry Royce} which no doubt would be of assistance.

We are now in receipt of a reply from Firths stating that Mr.Fawcett and Mr.Mark Firth will be pleased to visit us tomorrow (Tuesday, 5th inst.) and hope to arrive at Derby Station at 10.30 a.m. Unfortunately Mr.Stanfield is at present away on holidays and therefore will not be able to come.

As I have promised to arrange that a car be sent to the Midland Station to meet the train arriving at 10.30 a.m., I would suggest that Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} arranges for one of the "Goshawk 11" experimental cars be sent.

Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead}
