By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} c. to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Roy. {Sir Henry Royce} c. to Co/Da. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X4429 HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} STT 1922 RECEIVED Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 8/NJ7.9.22. Laminated Road Springs - Thos.Firth & Sons Ltd. Hereto I attach copy of letter from Thos.Firth & Sons Ltd. dated 6th inst., together with copy of the rough draft of notes therein referred to. I would draw attention particularly to Firth's proposal that all the new top plates which they will fit to the eight front springs returned to them should have rolled eyes at both ends. I do not suppose that By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} or Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will have any objection to this, seeing that one rolled eye will be central, but I shall be glad if they will let me have their decision at once. I assume that By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} has the copy of Dr.Hadfield's report R.L.9186 giving particulars of the 700 lbs. front springs and I would like a copy of same. With regard to springs for 40/50 HP. chassis, will By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please issue instructions that the centre bolts are to be supplied by us to Firths, who will fit them.
