The Experimental Dept. have reported to us that the Tangye Jacks being supplied for production 20 h.p. chassis are not in accordance with the sample for which the Standardisation Sheet was issued. The general finish of the Jack is bad, and whereas on the sample a bronze gear was fitt-ed {J. L. Edwards} with a well finished machined pinion, the gear and pinion on the production jack gives the impression as being fitted as received from the Foundry. The production Jack is in no way comparable to the sample, and we do not consider this a standardised part, as the design has been altered, and the material of several parts has been changed without our approval. The Experimental Dept. consider that we should return all the Jacks to the makers to be made in accordance with the sample. In regard to the Jack to be supplied with chassis going away, we consider that the Dunlop Jack should be used until we receive further supplies of Tangye Jacks that are in accordance with the Standardisation Sheet.
